Hello! I'm Kate and I think life can be compared to a Friends episode, the Today Show, or the newest YouTube video clip. However, since I have been living in London, I have been unable to watch my American daytime television. I am/was a 5th grade special education teacher whose plans were to take an extended maternity leave through the rest of the 2010/2011 school year.
Life throws you curve balls and sometimes your original plans get turned completely upside down. My husband, Michael, was offered a temporary career opportunity in London, England and we took it! We have been living here since the beginning of June and sine he is covering someone's maternity leave, we will only be here until January 2012. I have fully appreciated being able to aimlessly wander through the different parts of Central London and talk to anyone who is willing to listen to me. We feel extremely fortunate and blessed to have this opportunity to experience a different part of the world together.

The reason I have started this blog is to keep family and friends updated as Michael and I begin the journey of raising our daughter, Grace, in a city. We were fortunate to have had many of these important people geographically close to us back in Chicago, with others not just around the corner. We are constantly missing everyone back home as well as the people from Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New York, and Singapore. The city has changed and we have temporarily lost the support of our village, but the concept of this blog has remained the same. I can't wait to read this, especially the parts about our adventures living in London, to Grace, have her read it on her own, and one day post updates herself...
I married Michael, the love of my life, July 19, 2008.
Growing up always having a dog, I was never a cat person. However, I love L. Gumball! He may be up there as being one of the best pets ever. He joined our family in August of 2009.

Two and a half years after being married, our daughter Grace Elizabeth was born on December 13, 2010.
