City of Munich

Dear Grace,

We ended up going to the city of Munich for two reasons. The first reason was because we thought it would be entertaining to go during Oktoberfest, but the main reason was because of our family heritage. Nierengarten is definitely a German last name. You can thank Grandpa Den's Dad, or your Great-Grandfather Bernie, for our trip to Germany. Enjoy!

Love, Mummy and Daddy
We all took a moment and were thinking of Granma Jo--- we thought this church was called St. Joanne, however as we are looking it up now, it is actually called St. John Nepomuk known as Asamkirche. We're still not sure how everyone in our group messed this one up. It was the most metallic church we had been inside during our travels across Europe and was well worth a quick peak
Our next stop was Marienplatz, which is where different markets used to be held in addition to criminal hangings. The Glockenspiel is the main attraction inside the tower of the Old Town Hall. It's a reenactment of the tournament held during the wedding of Duke Wilhelm V and Renata of Lorraine.
You were in the mood to practice walking so who was I to not allow your development to progress (even if that meant walking toward a fountain and getting your feet wet.) I eventually did make the responsible parental decision in not allowing you to literally walk into the fountain.
precious moments--- I can't seem to get enough of these lately
Boys with beers and me in a Dirndl dress...life doesn't get much better than that! I know what you're thinking....the white sock is sexy! Daddy was yelled at by the lady in the store for taking my picture. I also overheard her whispering that we wanted to buy a dress to use as only a costume. Silly Americans! :)
The Viktualienmarkt, the city's central market has been around since the early 1800s. It is exactly what you would picture a German market place to be. There were beers, food, and crafts, oh my. It's also the scene of several lively celebrations around the flower-bedecked Maypole.
Grace, these three ladies didn't speak any English, but you and the little girl couldn't get enough of each other. I just love how babies are babies and moms are moms. Language barriers just don't matter in some situations.
If we ever have the pleasure of finding ourselves back in the Munich area, we will make sure to visit Neuschwanstein Castle. Logistically it didn't make sense for us. We were only in Munich for 1.5 days and it was a full day tour. Neuschwansteain Castle is what the Cinderella Castle is based off of by Walt Disney.

vs. Cinderella's Castle
