12 months

Dear Grace,
Happy 1st birthday! We were able to celebrate your first year with two small gatherings- one while we were home, and one in London with our friends. (details on both celebrations in a future post...)
On your actual birthday we had a bit of a scare. After you snuck a piece of my peanut puffs in your mouth you started breaking out in hives. I quickly did what any new Mom would do. Google: allergic reactions to food in babies. I became a bit worried to say the least. You weren't showing any of the serious signs and you were due for you 12-month wellness checkup so I rang your pediatrician instead of 999. (England's 911) They were able to see us 2 hours later! I love everything about your pediatrician(s) in London, but that could be an entire post of it's own. (AND, I've already been told I write too much.)
Daddy came with us since it was toward the end of the day, but mostly because we were a little worried about you. All 9 of the hives were gone by the time we arrived. Of course! You were perfectly healthy so your pediatrician gave you the worst gift on your birthday. VACCINES! Daddy received a work call, so it was just you, me and the doctor.
The best part of the wellness checks are finding out your new measurements:
length= 71.5 cm ( just over 28 in)
weight= 7.665 kg (basically 17 lb)
head circumference= ? ...all I remember is he said you have a BIG head!
Daddy pointed out that your car seat fits you until you are 30 inches OR 30 lbs. You are a skinny minny!
After your appointment, we met Alana and Vinny around the corner and checked out the outside of the Sherlock Homes Museum, the Beatles store and Abbey Road, before heading out for one last pint at a pub. We had to toast the birthday girl, as well as the Millers since it was their last evening with us. Cheers!
Love, Mummy

PS The moral of the story is that this mommy won't be eating anymore peanut puffs. Having to bring that bag to your doctor so he could check the ingredients (peanuts and MSG were 2 that weren't the best for you) was the perfect intervention for me to stop eating that type of junk food.
