Crete, Greece

Dear Grace,

We found out the day before we were supposed to arrive at Athens that it was closed for the day. Due to the protests all of the sightseeing locations were closed. Not that we would have been able to get there from the ship, because all forms of public transportation were closed as well. MSC took us to the city of Heraklion on the island of Crete, Greece instead. We walked past all the fishermen unloading their fishing boats, visited the ruins of the Minoan Palace of Knossos, listened to a kind painter's story, and ate an AMAZING Greek meal (while you were asleep-BONUS!). Enjoy!

Love, Mummy

Behind you are the ruins of the Minoan Palace of Knossos, believed to contain the original Labyrinth of the Minotaur and is 3,700 years old!
Another stranger's story- we met this artist who travels back and forth from Santorini to Crete throughout the year. He paints an average of 3 watercolors a day, depending on how many people stop to chat and make a purchase of course. We share our love for exchanging stories with strangers. This picture sums up my memory of Crete.
A beautiful sunset as we were leaving Crete.
Next port: Corfu, Greece
