Dubrovnik, Croatia

Dear Grace,
Dubrovnik is an amazing medieval city in Croatia. A city of museums and festivals, plus many restaurants, taverns and magnificent scenic views. I would describe it as a little village placed inside a fortress. There was so much character built into this fairy tale place with the streets filled with stairs that continued miles high. We left with only a taste of Dubrovnik. We would carry your pram (and you) halfway up a flight of stairs which intersected with narrow streets filled with shops and outdoor restaurants. We could have explored this place for days. Enjoy!

Immediately, when you enter Pile Gate you can admire the Franciscan Monastery (below left picture) that holds Europe's oldest pharmacy dating back to 1317.
Built in the 12th century to defend the city against invaders, Dubrovnik's 1940m of walls are considered some of the most beautiful and best preserved in Europe.
Adding to the charm of the town were the craftsmen tucked into the city walls. The man on the right made a beautiful limestone cross for our family and set aside time to give you attention as well.
Stradun is the beautiful pedestrian street of Dubrovnik that begins at the gate known as Pile and goes up to the clock tower.
"Those who look for a paradise or want the garden of Eden on Earth must come to Dubrovnik."-Bernard Shaw, Irish writer
Next stop is our final destination- back to Venice, Italy with a quick visit to Murano and Burano.
